08-07-17-Informed-Sport-640x400_jpgAt Isagenix, we work to ensure products that are safe for athletes to use all over the world. For this reason, we are pleased to announce that the AMPED line as well as other athlete-focused Isagenix products are now certified with Informed-Sport. Competitive athletes, or any athletes who are subject to testing for their sport, can feel they are fully safeguarded knowing that each batch of the products they consume has been tested for quality and for banned substances.

The possibility of substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in sports supplements is surprisingly high. Researchers estimate that somewhere between 3-25 percent of sports products contain traces of banned substances that are not present on the label.*

What is Informed-Sport?

Informed-Sport is a voluntary certification program that regularly tests dietary supplements for banned substances and confirms that they’ve been manufactured under high-quality standards. Brands that carry the Informed-Sport certification work with manufacturers and have quality assurance systems in place to ensure the safety of their products for athlete use. Not only are the products tested, but the manufacturing facilities are also audited to be sure cross-contamination between brands and products is minimized or eliminated. For more information, see Informed-Sport.com.

What substances does Informed-Sport screen for?

Informed-Sport screens for more than 160 substances that have been banned in sport and may pose a threat in terms of product contamination. The list of substances includes anabolic agents, stimulants, drugs of abuse, beta-2-agonists, masking agents, and more. While these substances may not seem familiar, even residue from the substance can contribute to positive testing of either blood or urine samples of competitive athletes.

What Isagenix products are certified by Informed-Sport?

Isagenix has chosen to certify all products that are part of the Performance Solution. This applies to several international markets and include:

North America (U.S. and Canada): AMPED™ PowerAMPED NOxAMPED FuelAMPED RecoverAMPED Hydratee+™IsaLean® PRO ShakeIsaPro®Ionix® Supreme, and AMPED Bars.

Australia/New Zealand: AMPED Power, AMPED NOx, AMPED Recover, AMPED Replenish, e+, IsaLean PRO Shake, IsaPro, and Ionix Supreme.

Why are all Isagenix products not certified by Informed-Sport?

Isagenix worked with athletes, customers, developers and manufacturers to determine what products initially needed to possess the Informed-Sport certification. The products in the Performance Solution were chosen because they were the products most likely to be used by elite athletes concerned with the WADA-banned substances list. In the future, there may be more Isagenix products that become certified.

What does this mean for athletes using Isagenix products?

If you’re a competitive or elite athlete you can feel safeguarded that the products you’re using with the Informed-Sport seal have been tested and are free of banned substances.

Is Informed-Sport different than Informed-Choice?

Yes, Informed-Sport is a much more stringent certification program than Informed-Choice. Informed-Sport certified products must go through rigorous testing of each batch before it hits the market as well as blind sampling multiple times per year to independently ensure product integrity. It means that every product and every flavor has been tested for banned substances. Informed-Choice certification requires monthly testing of batches, which means that particular batches may or may not have been tested, depending on testing timelines. There are many more products on the market carrying an Informed-Choice logo than Informed-Sport.

Having Informed-Sport certification on Isagenix sports nutrition products is yet one more example of the company’s commitment to no-compromise quality. This will now allow every class of athlete to benefit from the great sports nutrition that Isagenix has to offer.
