Foods to Enjoy and Avoid on a Cleanse Program
Foods to Enjoy & Avoid during an Isagenix Nutritional Cleansing Program (adapted from “Eat to Live: Isagenix Healthy Family Recipes Vol .I)
For the best results with a program: use as many fresh, organic, whole grains, meats & produce as possible, drink a lot of water and exercise.
Foods for “Shake Days”: Apples, Asparagus, Avocado, Bananas (in moderation), Berries (blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, raspberries), Broccoli, Cauliflower, Chicken without the skin, Cooking oils (canola, non-hydrogenated, coconut, olive, sesame), Cucumber, Dark, leafy greens (spinach, chard, kale), Lettuce (all varieties), Fish (various coldwater fish), Lentils/beans, Mushrooms, Oranges (in moderation), Peas, Peppers, Radish, Raw Almonds, Sea Vegetables (kelp, kombu, hijiki, nori), Sprouted breads or 100% Whole-wheat bread, Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Tomatoes, Whole grains (incl. brown rice & quinoa), Zucchini, Low-fat/fat free organic yogurt (esp. Greek). Add Lemon, Garlic, and Onion to add zip to dishes. Look for list of Healthy “Snack Ideas” for normal, non-cleanse days.
Snacks for “Cleanse Days”: Avoid all meats. For the best results on your cleanse day, graze on suggested snacks during the day. Eating too much at a time disrupts the cleansing process. Your objective is to avoid getting the digestive process working – basically give the liver a rest. Official recommended Isagenix snacks include: Isagenix Chewables (the wafers), IsaDelight Plus Choclates, e+ and Isagenix Coffee. If you feel faint or need more to snack on (athletes, diabetics) select from: apple slices with nuts (almonds or walnuts – unsalted), raw vegetables – celery, cucumber or salad.
Talk with your coach for more ideas if you are still hungry or have blood sugar issues etc.
Foods to Avoid while on a “Cleanse Program”: Alcohol, Artificial (flavourings, colourings and sweeteners), Caffeinated beverages such as coffee ( ok with Isagenix Coffee), tea, soda, Starches like Carrots & White Potatoes, Chips, Cold Cuts (nitrates), Cooking Oils (safflower, sunflower, corn, peanut), Deep fried foods, Enriched foods, Enriched pasta, Excessive salt, Fast food, Fruit Juices, High Fat Cheese, Instant, Packaged foods, Margarine, Pork products (inc. ham & bacon), Preservatives, Processed foods, Refined Carbohydrates, Shortening, Refined Sugar (including brown, powdered & confectioner’s), White Flour, White Rice. John Anderson reminds us that caffeine adversely affects cleansing results so Isagenix Coffee was formulated to be alkalining to the body. Most coffees contains high amounts of pesticides, herbicides and even DDT. Even decaffeinated contains these chemicals and the chemicals to “de” caffeinate it.
Isagenix Whole-Body Cleanse routines fuel the body with the Nutrition needed to carry it through both one and two days cleanse routines. The elimination of impurities and the degree of fat loss will be reflective of the chemicals you limit into your body. Look at all of your exposures to toxins – the food you eat, the air you breathe, the water you drink and bathe in. Look at your skin products, household cleaning products and more. Reducing exposure to chemicals and cleansing is NOT just about FAT LOSS. It will bring vitality back to the body. Take your overall health up to a level not thought possible.
Prepared meals should be around 400-800 calories, wholesome, balanced with a focus on fresh, organic whole grains, meats & fruits & vegetables. Other links will give suggestions for “Healthy Meal Recipes” and “Healthy Snack Ideas” for non-cleanse days.
